The Amazon Jungle’s flora, with its diversity, draws a spectacular landscape. Wild flora populates every corner, embellishing and giving color to the the immensity of the Peruvian Rainforest.

The world’s most diverse bird population.

Over 1500 bird species populate the Amazon basin, 527 registered in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve. There isn’t any other ecosystem in the world with so many bird species as the Amazon. The sound each one emits, is part of the ecosystem’s soundtrack.

Top 5 wild Amazon species

Pink river dolphin

Known as one of the most intelligent species in the world, it distanced itself from its sea pairs over 10 million years ago. They are short of sight and can outweigh up to three men (200 kg - 440 pounds).

Pygmy marmoset

Usually seen in the sea banks, it's one of the jungle's main artists, product of the high pitched sounds it emits. From the monkey family, it is the smallest one, reaching no more than 40cm (15.7 inches) including its body and tail.

Black caiman

One of the greatest protagonists of the Amazon Jungle. It hunt large animals and it's known for its patience when hunting. On average it measures 4 to 5 meters (13 to 16 feet) long, from head to tail.

Hoatzin

Has a predilection for walking on the banks of the rivers and swampy areas. The sound it emits is similar to the one of a compulsive smoker. It is often said, there's a similarity between the Hoatzin and the Pheasant however its appearance has greater bearing or slenderness.

Capybara

The father of all rodents, being the largest in the planet. It can reach the height of a child and remain below the river waters for a period of up to five minutes.
